Our doctors use a Zeiss Cirrus OCT to look for signs of nerve fiber loss in glaucoma as well as retinal conditions like macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and other conditions. This test analyzes the optic nerve and retina and gives three dimensional diagrams based on an almost cellular level. It has become an invaluable tool for looking at macular degerations patients who may have swellinf or bleeding in their maculas as well as diabetics with hemorrhaging near the macula. The test also looks at the nerve fiber layer of the optic nerve to evaluate for optic nerve disorder and changes in glaucoma.
